And even more so if you’re not used to being in front of the camera. But no worries—there’s no need to stress! I’m here to make your session fun, authentic to you and your partner, and so much more. I’m here to be your guide, so you don’t even have to worry about the poses. When posing and guiding is done correctly, they can really bring out your personalities, make your session feel more like a date than a photoshoot, and highlight the connection you have as a couple. I want you to feel at ease so that posing feels like second nature!

How to Prepare For Your Couples or Engagement Photoshoot
Before your session, it’s so important to prepare so that you can set yourself up for success. Here are some thing’s I recommend doing before your session:
1.) Choose The Perfect Outfit
- Stick to outfits that you feel comfortable and confident in. If you don’t feel comfortable, it will show through your pictures!
- Coordinate your looks without over matching each other.
- Avoid busy patterns or logos as they take away from you during the session.
- Choose outfits that allow for movement and don’t feel restrictive.
2.) Communicate Your Vision With Me
- Share your ideas and inspirations with me! Have any must-have shots? I need to know! If you have a Pinterest board with inspo? I want to see it!
- Let me know what you like and don’t like. Don’t like to be overly affectionate? Tell me! All about the PDA and fun piggy back rides? I need to know!
3.) Embrace The Unexpected
- Sometimes the best kinds of photos happens when things don’t go as planned. Whether it’s an extra windy day, playful moments, or random giggles. Sometimes these are the moments to capture those true candid shots.

1.) The Classic Embrace
Stand close together, wrap your arms around each other, and let your forehead or noses touch. This is a timeless pose that feels intimate and is super easy to achieve.
2.) Hand-in-Hand Walk
Holding hands while you walk towards or away from the camera always makes for a cute photo. Don’t worry about getting it perfect. Just focus on the moment, and I’ll capture the movement and emotion in an authentic way.
3.) Side-by-Side
Another simple couple pose is standing shoulder to shoulder with your partner. Lean into each other, exchange glances or laughs. It feels natural, effortless, and is perfect for those candid yet editorial feeling photos.

Whether it’s just a twirl, dip, or just swaying back and fourth with your partner, dancing creates romantic, in-the-moment shots that feel so cinematic.
3.) The Catch and Release
Another fun pose to help add movement to your photos is what I like to call a “catch and release” pose. You and your partner hold hands and playfully lean back and fourth. When one partner comes back in, you can wrap them in a playful hug!
